They say the biggest decisions you can make about your goals is what you are willing to give up in order to achieve them. I gave up refusing to have my picture taken, chronic health issues, a crappy diet and sedentary lifestyle, and over 50 pounds. I feel like it was worth it. 
After four children, a university degree, and a desk job, I found myself one day, 80 pounds heavier, thinking I was about to have a heart attack. I had a pain under my arm and a deep sense of shame that at the age of 36, I was in bad enough shape that a heart attack could be a real possibility. I had an epiphany in that moment (instead of the heart attack, thank goodness!) It would be easier to make the changes I needed to than to continue to live in the reality I had created for myself, and subsequently for my family.

I lost some weight by adapting a more active lifestyle and cleaning up my diet, but knew I wasn't going to reach the level I wanted to without something more; I just wasn't sure what that was. I was already working my butt off! One day I went to check out On Edge Fitness and met Stephen. I made a completely spur of the moment decision to sign up for personal training, and can say with 100% confidence that not only was it one of the best decisions I've ever made, but it has completely changed my life. 
Realistically, I knew I'd have to give up a few things to make having a personal trainer happen, I am nowhere close to wealthy, and am not even sure I can use the words financially secure with a straight face (four kids and a student loan!), but it actually started out as surprisingly affordable! Within a few weeks I realized that I couldn't afford NOT to do this. I stopped weighing, measuring, dieting and exercising, and started listening to what Stephen had to say. I started training, eating what my body needed, which was actually way less restrictive than what I had previously been doing, and obviously best of all, seeing Significant results very quickly.

There are literally no words to convey the pride I feel in what I have accomplished with Stephen's guidance, or the thanks I feel to become a part of such an incredible community as On Edge Fitness.

Since walking into On Edge Fitness, my fitness levels and athletic performances have never been the same. Stephen Norton recognized me training in the gym, noticed the aspects of my work out that I was doing well, and the areas that I need improvement and took me on as one of his training students.
Stephen has taken me from a basic knowledge of strength and fitness to being able to recognize what it takes to make it to another level. When Stephen started with me, my maximum squatting weight was 250 pounds and in a short 2 months I was squatting 320 pounds. Stephen can see potential and knows how to pull it out of both recreational and competitive athletes. Not only does he focus on the lifting, but there is a premium put on maintaining the body through healthy living, stretching, and activating the less popular muscle groups that are essential to high performance.
As a multi sport athlete, I look forward to continuing to work with Stephen, and would recommend Stephen, or any of the On Edge training staff to anyone looking to increase athletic performance and weight room ability.

It was leg day when Stephen told me he was going to train me, and that’s how we met.  Stephen ended up putting me through a gruelling leg work out that I loved (and hated).  That’s when I decided to sign up for twelve more sessions.  It was just what I needed.  My workouts before Stephen had grown kind of mundane and I felt like I had hit a plateau.  Stephen introduced me to Olympic style lifting which made me excited about going to the gym.  In the six months he’s been training me I gained more strength and packed on more muscle than I know I could have with my regular workouts.  I never would have thought I would be able to perform a 200lb. deadlift.

Stephen makes every workout fun and challenging. He is a great motivator for the days when I am just not feeling it.  Whatever your fitness goals are I’m confident that Stephen can help if you’re willing to put the hard work in.

I had been working out pretty regularly at On Edge before Stephen approached me about training with him.  I didn’t really have a problem with my workouts but I was leaving some pretty critical exercises out of my routines simply because I wasn’t able to perform them properly.  One such exercise was the barbell squat.  I just couldn’t do one properly without hurting myself.  My form was just awful.  We decided to concentrate on squats, front and back, for the next six weeks.  After those first six weeks my form was near perfect.  Stephen taught me how to properly prepare and improve my mobility.  He pushed me during every workout to do more, and after about four months my personal best on the squat had increased almost three-fold.

I have no doubt that Stephen can help anyone achieve their strength and mobility goal if they truly work at it.

The day I walked into On-Edge Fitness was the day that I finally decided to change my life.  I remember almost being in tears standing in front of Stephen; so embarrassed and disappointed in myself.  Stephen told me though that things could only get better.  He was right.

This past year has been quite the journey.  On-Edge became my second home, and the staff and other members became almost like family.  I never once felt like I didn’t belong and am so thankful for the comfortable and supportive environment that On-Edge has provided for this past year.  I never would have imagined doing the things I am now capable of doing.  Thank you to both Stephen and your team for everything you’ve done.

Stephen Norton and On Edge Fitness have changed my life. The summer of 2012 was one of my lowest points. I was overweight, unhealthy, and stuck in a rut. I had been asked by my best friend to stand up with her in her wedding, and obviously I was honoured to do it. The time came for dress shopping, and I was mortified by the size of the dresses I was trying on. That was my turning point. I tried to start eating healthier and adding exercise to my daily routine by riding my bike. While good in theory, I was seeing absolutely zero results. That’s when I decided I was joining a gym. I had joined big name gyms in the past and had no luck. I felt uncomfortable and really had no idea what I was doing once I got there. I wanted to go somewhere I would feel comfortable enough to ask for help. I knew some people who had raved about On Edge and Stephen Norton as a trainer, so I decided to give it a try.

Since joining On Edge and working with Stephen it's been a rollercoaster - emotionally and physically. There were days where I was completely defeated and considered giving up, but Stephan kept me motivated. He is always encouraging, and believes in me more than I do most days. By celebrating small successes and setting challenging - but realistic - goals, Stephen helped me move from the worst to the best points in my life. It’s great to know that there is always someone rooting for you in the background, and without Stephen, I definitely could not have gotten to where I am today. I am happier, healthier, and more confident now than I have been in my entire life. I have currently lost 60lbs and over 40 inches with Stephen's help. There is still some progress to be made, and I can’t think of a better place or group of people to do it with than Stephen and his team at On Edge Fitness.

In September 2009, I was the heaviest weight of my life and I knew I needed to do something about it! I realized exercise would play an important role along with diet changes so I made a decision to join On Edge Fitness. I started an active personalized weight training and cardio program under the guidance of Stephen Norton.

I found Stephen to be enthusiastic, personable and knowledgeable and so the journey began. Six months later and 50lbs. lighter with muscles I never knew I could obtain, I felt and looked the best I had my whole life! I have continued to maintain my weight and fitness level with Stephen’s continuing guidance and now three years later, it has become an integral part of my life. A couple of years ago, I came to the unfortunate realization that I did not have too many options when it came to my health. I knew that something had to be done. My wife and I immediately joined a gym close to home. After a year of what I thought was hard work, I had minimal results. Feeling extremely discouraged, I stopped working out and fell right back into my bad habits.

With the support of my family, I decided to try again at On Edge Fitness. After being a member for two weeks, I was approached by Stephen, who acknowledged my effort and dedication. He then offered to help. I started working with Stephen three times a week. He saw in me my fight to get healthy.  I have been a member at On Edge Fitness for six months now and I could not be happier with the results I have seen. I am very thankful not only to Stephen, but also for the continuing support and motivation I receive from the entire team. I have been able to reclaim my life and although I still have a long way to go, I now know it is all possible.
